Our Home Tour: Part 3!

Our Kitchen

Hi friends, and new visitors! First off, thank you to those who have been following along as we started this at the beginning of the summer. While we learned it probably wasn’t the best season of life to start our blog, we are not letting what we could’ve gotten accomplished get us down, and are excited to pick this back up and share all of our projects – past, present, & future with you!

If you are just joining us, when we started our blog we wanted to kick off by giving a home tour – perfectly finished, or not! If you missed Parts 1 & 2 of the tour, head on over to see Our Bedroom and Our Master Bath if you’d like.

The next space we wanted to share with you all is our kitchen. We really spent most of our time all over our little rowhome, but this is certainly one of our favorites for entertaining and spending time together. When we first discovered our home, we fell in love with the kitchen – recently renovated, a beautiful exposed ceiling and the perfect open concept to make it our own. With a little love, we really have transformed it into a space that we enjoy but still have (what it feels like) a long way to go and we cannot wait to share some helpful DIY hacks and tips as we move into those updates this fall. The Heavy Lifts

Paint: We really wanted to brighten up this space and actually painted this room before our master bath, but is the same light mint, Behr “At Ease” . While it is definitely an improvement, we plan on painting this fall to make it a little warmer – stay tuned!

Backsplash: This was by far M’s favorite project in the house, and it was really special as G and his dad got to work on it together (he is a professional) all in a matter of two days! We really wanted to do something unique that wouldn’t kill us at resale in a few years, so this herringbone (or chevron) subway tile was the perfect solution for us. We ordered it from Overstock and got such a good deal on great quality tile! For the grout, we opted for a really light gray to give it a subtle contrast and couldn’t be happier.

Light Fixtures

After paint, the next thing we wanted to update was the light fixtures. We really wanted to play off of the hard lines in the ceiling and woodwork, so we landed on these amazing globe bronze light fixtures and opted for vintage bulbs that make the difference for a cozy atmosphere. Pro tip: While the vintage bulbs are pricey, they literally last a lifetime making it so worth the investment!

Decor

We’ve spent the past two years trying to navigate the space to figure out what works best for us (seriously the cups have moved cabinets three times) and finding the right pieces that give touches of home. Over the past recent months, it finally feels like it is coming together by introducing wood tones. We would’ve never thought to pair them with grays, but have loved how it ties into our flooring and gives a little more life to the overall palette. Between the wood knife block, serving trays, the amazing hearth and hand wall shelf, and our wooden tablet holder – it finally feels like home.

Next up, new rugs (been EYEING one for months that we hope to snag soon once it is back in stock), paint updates, and some counter space saving DIY’s that we cannot wait to share. Thanks for following along!
