Style Edit: Affordable Wide-Brim Hats

March 18, 2021

I’ve been on the hunt for a good, yet affordable neutral wide-brim hat for Spring/Summer but it’s of course the hardest thing to buy online. Everyone’s heads are different, but I thought it would be helpful to order a variety of highly rated hats and compare them for you! View each hat, my thoughts on them and shop all below. Note, there are only color correction edits on the photos, the colors of the hats have not been manipulated. Enjoy!

Hat #1

This hat is my second favorite! The trim adds a unique detail and overall the hat is structured really well. It fits tightly to the head for a windy day, but does sit a little higher up than I’d like. However, not Pharrell vibes. The color is a deeper beige, definitely not on the orange scale, so would be great as a versatile piece for different colored outfits.

Hat #2

This hat is my least favorite, simply because I was searching for one that sits higher up on the head. The felt adds a cool texture to the look, and the ribbon seamlessly blends with the hat itself for a clean look. The ribbon adds a cute detail to step up the look, but the overall shape comes off as safari to me.

Hat #3

This hat is very popular with many color options at a super affordable price. It’s definitely on the smaller sider in terms of the brim, but fits well. This particular color paired with the leather detail certainly looks more expensive than it is! This shape is more on the safari side, but a great hat for those looking for a more manageable size. I’d probably keep it if the brim had more of a curve on the sides for a bit of a western look.

Hat #4

This one is the winner! I had a hunch given the product photos, the color felt and is creamy and light to go with a lot different tones and textures for both Spring and Summer. The only downfall is that it is not tight on the head, so not best for a windy day. The shape is perfect and flattering and the brim is super stiff to keep its shape. At such an affordable price, it’s a gem. This also comes in many colors and ships fast!
