Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to make a wood picture frame for your TV – this took just one day!
Tools and Supplies:
- Compound Miter Saw
- Wood Glue
- Speed Square
- Brad Nails
- Brad Nailer
- Wooden Boards
- Moulding (Our Exact)
- Wood Filler
- Sandpaper
- Spray Paint / Spray Paint (Our Exact – Layered Behr on bottom and a dusting of the other on top for more gold)

Step 1: Measure TV and Cut the Frame
Begin by measuring your TV’s dimensions. Cut wooden boards to the appropriate length to fit around your TV, creating the outer box of the frame. Remember to account for any vents or buttons on the TV – more on this below.
Step 2: Create Openings for Vents and Buttons
Take your wood and make markings by your TV for easier location cuts. Cut out the bottom part of the frame to accommodate vents and on/off buttons. This ensures proper airflow and easy access to controls.
Step 3: Assemble the Frame
Using wood glue and brad nails, assemble the frame. A speed square is crucial for ensuring the frame is perfectly square. Take your time with this step, as it forms the foundation of your project.
