One of the smaller items that added to the charm of our old home is the built-in bookshelves in our sitting room. Admittedly, they are not well built and have a lot of flaws, but for now, we figured we’d give them some life with paint! This would really marry the flooring and other paint updates for the time being.
During our stay at 86 Cannon in Charleston, SC, G and I were instantly drawn to a hue of the cabinets in the morning room. When this project came about, we knew we’d pull that as inspiration! Reveal below…
Before
After
After testing many hues of a muted, smokey blue, we landed on Bruce Spruce by Benjamin Moore. It’s definitely a chameleon of a color, sometimes leans more towards gray-blue, sometimes the teal undertone comes out! It’s a perfect blend of a moody color, that feels traditional and transitional as we develop the style of our home. It’s welcoming, yet relaxing – just what we want when others step into our home!
What’s Next?
This was a rewarding update, but we have a lot of plans for this space! Once we touch up paint and the ceiling – we’ll move on. I shared in the initial Home Tour, but, we plan to make this a welcoming sitting room that features a dry bar. So, we’ll replace the left side shelves with cabinets to house all of our glassware and alcohol. Then, furnish the space to be a sitting area to really transition from the entry to the kitchen. This is not a top priority, however, may come to life sooner than later since its not a huge lift!
What do you think of the paint color? Thanks for following along!
