Let me start by saying you don’t need to redesign every space when a season changes. However, there are touches that make home happy during each season of life. I always recommend shopping your home first, utilizing these tips as a guide! At the end of this post, I have rounded up my favorite Spring decor for anyone on the hunt. Enjoy 🙂
Â
Mix in Lighter, Pastel Tones
Just because it’s Spring, it doesn’t mean that everything has to be peach and mint green. It also doesn’t mean you must remove your moody tones! For a quick, easy update – simply scale back on the amount of the deeper tones, and mix in neutrals. This will brighten up your space and allow those darker pieces you love to be the accent vs. the focus. The goal is light and airy.
On the other end, you can certainly entirely change up your palette by having staple neutrals that stick around all year long, then mix in some pastel pillows and throws!
Â
Switch Artwork to Scenes of the Season
I love mixing in artwork related to the season on my tables and shelves. It may seem obvious, but to the eye its a subtle and easy switch. Picking up pieces that incorporate florals, landscapes with lush greens, or relaxing outdoors are great for Spring.Â
You can also turn to family photos! Print out photos from your favorite Spring adventures of years past to make you smile and think back to what makes you enjoy this season of life.
Â
Incorporate Lightweight Textures
Just like the way we dress, Spring is all about lightweight fabrics and textures. Put away those heavier knits and furs, as well as drastically bulk textures. Scaling back on the layers lightens up the space whereas winter requires a different kind of cozy.Â
Â
Rearrange FurnitureÂ
I often give this tip for any instance where you may be looking for change. You may have some winter blues, so try to rearrange an area of your home vs. moving the couch across the way. Moving a side table from one room to the other, or finding a new home for a big faux tree can do the trick! Plus, it doesn’t cost to shop your home = win!
Â
Include Greenery, of Course
This is very obvious and stands for all seasons, but it’s important to put out more touches that give a fresh feeling. A little plant on your coffee table, side table, in the kitchen, etc. goes a long way! I recently rounded up my favorite faux plants here.
If you really want signs of Spring, go for some floral arrangements that include tulips or hydrangeas.Â
Â
Declutter
Lastly, removing all the extras is key to brightening up your home and giving space to feel light and airy. I wrote a post on how to go about this and all the things to toss here!
