11 Powder Room Essentials
Powder rooms can often be a forgotten space, but end up being the most used by your guests! Here are a few staple essentials to make anyone feel at home.
Obvious, but essential. Having a clear way for guests to dry their hands is helpful to making them feel comfortable in your home. Draping a nice hand towel off a basket on a shelf can look great, too. Keep extras in a basket for multiple guests.
Space for Belongings
Create an area for guests to place their phone or other items to avoid it falling or getting wet from washing hands. A shelf or tray can be great solutions to accomplish this.
Whether real or faux, flowers or greenery can instantly create a welcoming and fresh feel in the space.
One Staple Scent
In such a tight space, and the nature of it, having one staple scent from a candle or freshener will enhance the feel of the space without overwhelming a guest. Just be careful if you light it – too close to the wall and it can cause burn marks, or even worse, a fire.
Add a nice personal touch to your space by including books that tailor to your interests or little photo albums for your guests to flip through some of your favorite memories.
The last thing a guest wants to experience is running out of toilet paper while in your home! Store extras in a basket or area that would be easily found.
Hand Soap & Lotion
Soap is an obvious must-have, but take it a step further with hand lotion to avoid dryness especially in the colder seasons.
Another way to keep it fresh, but more importantly make your guests feel comfortable, is to provide a match striker. Enough said!
Guests often head to the powder room to freshen up, so a mirror is key to do so. It also can help enlarge a space due to the reflections cast on the opposite wall.
Another obvious essential, but you never know what guests may need to toss. One with a lid may help guests feel more comfortable and also is safer for pets.
If you use this space regularly, clear out any medications, products, etc. that will take away from essential items that your guests may need.
